Meet the team
Designer's Bootcamp is a women lead design company, founded by Frankie Ratford in 2018. She created it to give designers the chance to explore the world, meet other creatives and further their careers while at the same time having a ton of fun!

Previous experiences
Sri Lanka 2019
Our very first event, for 14 people was in the south of Sri Lanka, on a remote surf beach. Lauren was one of the participants and was hired immediately, she's been with TDK/DB for 6 years now! Laura May Grogan was our resident photographer climbing trees and Casey Cordoba helped coordinate the whole thing.
Byron Bay 2019
Byron Bay was our biggest event so far – 42 attendees, across 2 classes, in a warehouse in Byron. We skipped the accomm part and everyone organised their own. We held a mini conference half way through and had a big party the last day. Huge effort!
Bali 2019
Our second event, in Bali had 17 attendees in a yoga retreat in Canggu. Casey helped from afar and Laura came back to shoot the event and head shots. Frankie got a couple of tatts and everyone ended up with a sexy portfolio after 8 days in paradise.
India 2020
Try running an travel event with international attendees in March 2020! India was everything you would think, and more. We got shat on by a bird mid class. Frankie nearly got hit by a bus. Our ten attendees became besties and then went home to two years of lockdown.
Portugal 2019
Our third event, Porto, was probably the wildest so far. With 18 attendees and Frankie flying solo, they stayed at Selina in Porto, drank many many beers, played fuzzball with the locals and somehow came out the other end with zero sleep but excellent careers! Nice job team.
Bedroom Bootcamps
Over 2020 – 2023 we ran ten more events, this time online. Besties were made, tears were shed and many mnay desing portfolios were polished up and used to get dream jobs. Forever grateful to the peeps during this time.
